Description:

Initially flowing through hilly country, the river enters flatter country after Wellington. Overhanging willows can be a hazard in places. Nanima Falls is only a drop of about 1/2m with a stopper at the bottom followed by a short race. The other "falls" are up to grade 1 - 2 standard and are generally rapids of a gravel-race type. The Dubbo Weir, about 3 1/2km before the finish point, is hazardous with very turbulent water at the bottom and should be portaged. It occurs at the end of a small horseshoe loop in the river. This section is best canoed in the irrigation season.
