This is not an approved camping area
Camping on public land without an approval is an offence and penalties may apply. A primitive campground is a location which has Council approval for camping. Council regulates camping under the local Government (Manufactured Home Estates, Caravan Parks, Camping Grounds and moveable dwellings) Regulation 2005. The Act applies to all private and public land.
The project objective is to formalise the currently unauthorised camping at traditional camping locations along the Clarence River and to ensure equitable access to public land for both campers and day visitors. This will ensure that campers can continue to camp at these locations whilst addressing the impacts of camping on the environment, day visitors and local communities.
