Turn right into Wattle Street off Hindmarsh Road. Second turn on the left into Pearsons Road. Launch point at the end of bitumen. (small turn-around area) Sufficient room for two cars or a car & trailer at roadside. Set up craft on grassy area. Sand/mud launch area for 2 - 3 craft.
Paddle to the left (downstream) from the launch point and you will reach the mouth (approx 0.5 km) after passing under the road bridge. The beach sand movement process at the mouth is dominant and therefore a sand-bar blocks the flow of river water into Encounter Bay.
Paddle upstream about 1.5 km. Branches and snags impede further progress.
Always check weather prior to departure and for the duration of your journey. Avoid being on the water when a cold front is passing due to accompanying increase in wind velocity and decrease in temperature.
