Chaelundi

Approach the river from Hernani, on the Armidale-Grafton Road, between Ebor and Tyringham. Turn down Marengo Road here and proceed to Marengo Station. The highest possible entry is probably via the ridge leading south-west from "Marengo" Station to the junction with Partons Creek (about Map Ref. 345600 Ebor) giving about 75km of river. A longer, more gradual ridge (but still steep in parts) leads north-west from "Marengo" Station to the junction with Marengo Creek (about Map Ref. 350640 Ebor), giving about 60km of river. The easiest route is via an old (closed) 4WD trail (Jordans) which runs off the Chaelundi (camping area) road (Map Ref. 360702 Ebor), and entails a 7km walk and 600m descent to the river; this entry gives about 55km of canoeing to Broadmeadow' The car shuttle to the earliest pull-out at Broadmeadow is long and roundabout, being 31Okm return.
