Who are the Newcastle Outriggers?
The Newcastle Outrigger Canoe Club (NOCC) caters for all people who are interested in the sport of outrigger canoeing. It doesn’t matter if you are an elite paddler, a total novice or want a unique team building or corporate event experience - we can cater for you. There have been outrigger paddlers in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie for many years, and in July 2009 a core group of enthusiastic paddlers decided to form our own club. We are now an affilated club with the national governing body of the sport AOCRA and compete in regattas throughout NSW and at times further afield.

Competitive paddling, team racing regattas
We often have more than one team attend the various regattas in NSW during the paddling season. We have also had individual paddlers and teams compete in the Hamilton Island Cup, Molokai, the National Championships and other local, national and international events. If you would like to compete in outrigging we are happy to have you along either as a serious team or a fun social team or something in between. Teams are usually comprised prior to the events depending on each paddlers availability.
Guest Paddlers from out of town or Overseas
All guest paddlers get 3 free paddling sessions, after that you can either pay $5/session or join for a full or half year as a club member. We look forward to meeting you.
Corporate and team building activities
Not only do we paddle socially and in regattas, we also do corporate events and team building activities. If you are interested in running a corporate day or team building activity for your organisation, please contact Club Coach Steve Dawes, send him an email coach@newcastleoutrigger.com.au
Junior team building, school sport activities
A few of our members are trained to work with kids in sport and we have provided a range of after school sport programs. If you are interested in doing something like this for your school or class please contact us to discuss.
