Adelaide Canoe Club

Description:

ADELAIDE CANOE CLUB is a recreational club for kayaks and canoes with a Canoe Polo component for those wishing a little competition. The club has no formal club rooms but often use the Canoe SA facilities and, sometimes, equipment for meetings and training sessions at West Lakes: this keeps our costs down. Most members carry their kayak or canoe on their car to a predetermined meeting point for the activity as publicised in our program. Our membership is a good mix of males and female paddlers with most of them owning their own craft.

we have day trips mostly along the city coast or on local rivers
weekend trips either from a car-camp or kayak or canoe self-sufficient camp
some extended river or sea trips those members with necessary skills and experience

An important part of our paddling is the safety and knowledge of our members. The Club has AC qualified Instructors and Guides for Sea, Whitewater and Flatwater.  Skill sessions are a large part of the club’s activities in aspects like equipment, paddling strokes, edging, rescues and rolling. Skill sessions are voluntary and offered regularly by the Club’s instructors for generally no cost and we also encourage attendance at any courses being offered by Canoe SA. Canoe Polo is an inter-club competition for all ages with a summer and a winter session sometimes located in a public swimming pool and sometimes in a river location. Club Activities:
