Ascot Kayak Club

Description:

FOR THE NEW PADDLER
If you are an adult and new to paddling the best place to start is the Introductory Course. It is very popular and fills up quick, book early. Many recreational/social paddlers meet and network at this course. If you are an adult, once a member, we have a range of entry level kayaks you can paddle on the river nearby.
For new junior paddlers we have our fun, play and learn course called Ascot Paddle Passport. Adults and juniors don’t need to buy any gear to get started, the club supplies everything. Juniors cannot join the club without a Parent or Guardian club member.
COACHING AND INSTRUCTION
The Introductory Course provides outstanding instruction in basic kayaking skills for 16+. The course is available to members (free) and the general public ($80.00). Linked to this is Tuesday Night Training and instruction for beginners in flatwater. Coaching for seniors is provided in both flatwater (Sprint and Marathon) and Slalom with a choice of several training sessions running weekly.
For the serious competitive flatwater paddlers there are 2 High Performance Squads, 1 for flatwater and 1 for slalom.
JUNIOR PROGRAM AND JUNIOR SQUAD

We would like you to swim well enough (50 metres) but no other pre-skills are required. For the older junior paddlers we provide a Junior Squad for paddlers  (12-16 years old) ready to refine their racing skills.
