The River Canoe Club members come together to paddle. Sometimes its to paddle on the local Cooks River for exercise or to get together with like minded locals to enjoy a tidal river which meanders from Canterbury to Botany Bay. These same folk may be joined with others to explore a range of waterways in Sydney or New South Wales. The more adventurous will travel far and wide, often at a moments notice, to paddle rivers that run, especially after good rainfall. These folk are generally called "whitewater" paddlers and usually not locals, but join to learn and share their love with people from all over the place. No matter where they paddle, the Club provides organised events with support to develop skills under experienced and qualified guides and instructors. The Clubhouse found on the Cooks River at Marrickville (just opposite Tempe Railway Station) has facilities for social get togethers and storing members' boats.
