Description:

There is one small grade 1-2 rapid with a straight run 1.5km from Jugiong, otherwise the river is smooth flowing water with some force. The flow may be significantly increased 20km from the finish when the Tumut River flows in from the left. Keep to the inside of sharp bends to avoid trees. As well as a few snags, the only other hazard is a strong swirl in the outside of the right bend 2km from Gundagai. In this section, the river passes mainly through undulating to hilly grazing land with tree-lined banks, occasionally high. Numerous ducks and cockatoos break the tranquillity. There is an access at Sandy Falls Reserve about 8 hours paddle and 41km from Jugiong. Turn east off the Hume Highway 2km after Coolac and after 2 km turn right to Sandy Flat.
