Description:

A very beautiful and interesting short section. The starting pool at Yeola is particularly scenic - colourful shear buttress cliffs descend into thick eucalypt vegetation which in turn gives way to a Casuarina and rock-dominated stream verge. Approximately 1 /2km downstream from the put in point the rivers path is channelled against a left-hand sheer rock face - the passage ends with a short drop into a rainforest fringed pool. This rapid, together with several others in the first 3km, attains a grade 3 rating with a water level in excess of 0.9m. After passing a concrete ford (3km) the previously confined and narrow stream-bed noticeably changes. Pools and races typify the broadening valley. Paddle under the Upper Kangaroo River Suspension Bridge and hereafter, a long pool ends with the pull-out point at Gerringong Creek Road bridge. This is a popular picnic and swimming reserve - camping is prohibited.
