Coopers Creek is a quiet, pretty winding creek 12 kilometers north of Lismore. It is best paddled within three weeks of good rain and when the level is 0.60 at the Corndale gauge as there are several shallow spots in dry times. This is an ideal TK1 paddle. The put-in point is Locton Bridge on Locton Road, Numulgi, close to the Corndale Road end. It’s a steep creek bank entry. The paddle is winding with plenty of overhanging shade and one small Grade 1 rapid. The get-out point is Boatharbour adjacent to the Wilson’s Creek Bridge on the Lismore/Bangalow Road. When reaching the junction of the Wilson paddle upriver (left) for 250 metres to the bridge. Paddle past the bridge and exit on the southern bank immediately next to the bridge. Paddle distance to exit is 15 kms and paddling time, approximately 1.45 hours. An alternative paddle is to turn right at the Wilson/Cooper junction and paddle the additional 11kms to Lismore.
