Description:
The Omeo Highway crosses the river 3km south of Glen Valley. The most convenient access point is just upstream of the bridge on either side of the river. The overall trip takes 3 to 4 hours on continuous grade 2 rapids. There are two grade 3 rapids, the first is just past a picnic ground at the junction of the Omeo Highway. and the Bogong High Plains Road. The second, known as the Pinball, is preceded by a number of high boulders in the river and is worthy of inspection prior to shooting. In general the rapids consist of fast chutes and drops rather than rocky labyrinths, and are extremely enjoyable when there is adequate water. Late in summer there is usually insufficient. Care should be exercised at all snags.
