Description:

A short (~10km return) flatwater paddle. The access point at Mallokup Rd Capel is just upstream of a weir which ensures that there is water all year round. For the first 3km upstream the river is relatively open and a pleasant paddle winding through farmland. At the 3km mark the river forks. The right fork (facing upstream) passes by the Capel Vale winery and with a few minor logs to negotiate you can reach the Bussell Highway bridge approximaely 2km upstream. During this second section the river narrows and is fairly shallow. Access upstream of the bridge is blocked by extensive fallen trees/brush in the river which by this stage is relatively shallow and narrow.
Return downstream to Mallokup road.
