Kioloa to Ulladulla
Jon Mortimer manages the Eurobodalla Kayakers website and email list. Eurobodalla Kayakers is not a club. It is simply a facility for sharing information about some kayaking activities in the district, for kayakers who want to know when and where other paddlers might be found on the water. Further information, including a calendar of paddles, is available on the website (access via the link below) or via the email eurobodallakayakers[at]gmail.com

Thirty kilometres of open water paddling. Launch from the beach adjacent to the Kioloa Boat Ramp and paddle north, ducking inside Belowla Island and then Brush Island. Stop for a break on the beach on the sheltered side of Crampton Island. A sand spit connects this island to the mainland at low tide. Continue north but take care around Warden Head. This is the most exposed part of the paddle and can have lumpy seas. Sullivan Reef extends north of Warden Head and needs to be respected. It was responsible for a number of shipwrecks in the 19th century. Bomboras can break unexpectedly here. Finish on the calm beach in Ulladulla Harbour. On weekdays the 740/741 but route will take one or more members of your party back to Kioloa to pick up a car or cars. Don't be late. Ulladulla Bus Lines runs only one bus in this direction in the afternoon. Look up the latest timetable online ( www.ulladullabus.com.au/timetables.html ). No service to Kioloa on weekends.
The boat ramp at Bawley Point provides another option for access to this part of the coast. It is quite sheltered in southerly swells and at lower tides. On an easterly swell and higher tide it can however be a bit messy.
