Description:

Coopernook Creek is fast and tree infested but has many clean, narrow, grade II-III+ drops in beautiful rainforest. It flows from the flanks of Mount Moombil which is visible from much of the area as the mountain with the prominent communications tower. What you see from the road at the put-in is typical of the run. Care must be taken when portaging the waterfall near the start and a grade VI rapid soon after this and a lot of other scouting may be required. The last 3km on the Bobo River are nice and mellow in comparison to Coopernook Creek.
Grade:III+
Length12km (including 3km on the Bobo)
Elevation is 620m at put-in and 480m at take-out. the average gradient is 11m/km

Quality:★★★
Reliability:★★
Paddling time:4 hours
Gauge and level: Visual at the put-in. Paddling must be soon after heavy rains as the small catchment means good water levels don't last long. The Nymboida@Nymboida gauge would be in the vicinity of 4m.
Put-in:Where the creek flows under the Eastern Dorrigo Way between Megan and Brooklana. Most paddlers put in at the bottom of a steep ridge about 500m east of the bridge, which puts in below a spectacular, big waterfall that is difficult to portage.
Take-out: On the Bobo River, where the Lower Bobo Road crosses the river. It is also possible to just run the upper portion of this section by taking out on Kritons Road.
Shuttle: Easy 2WD. 30 minutes each way via Eastern Dorrigo Way (back towards Ulong) and Lower Bobo Road.
