A popular canoe trip or section for beginner/intermediate paddlers.
From The Junction, the valley opens up, the landscape slowly changes from bushland to open farmland and the rapids become less frequent. Most of the rapids in this section are of a grade l and II standard with two grade II+/III rapids. The first bigger rapid (The Junction Rapid) is at the end of the first pool and the second one (Pitkin Falls) is approximately 12km into the trip, on the left side of an island. The right channel in this location is reportedly hazardous due to trees. It is possible to scout and/or portage Pitkin Falls on the island. This trip can be slow-going if the water levels are low due to the wide, shallow nature of some of the rapids.
