A great, relatively short section that includes a fun, runnable waterfall, a portage around a spectacular chasm and lots of other interesting, clean rapids.
This section is best when there is enough water to paddle down Sandy Creek. Put in at the bridge and paddle about 2km down this beautiful, low volume creek via a great 5m waterfall (that could be easily portaged on the left) until it joins the Little Murray River. Immediately below the junction is a chasm that was the former location of a hydro-electric system. This grade VI chasm is awe-inspiring to look at and requires a 200m steep portage on the right. Many other interesting drops and chutes are found further downstream including a Grade IV double-stage drop about 1km before the end of the trip that can be portaged on the right.
