Description:

This section is quite steep and composed of rough, messy rapids with large, rock-cluttered drops. Trees and log hazards are often encountered and a couple of long portages are advised. The roughest stretches are in the vicinities of Ganbenang and Blackheath Creeks, while the river flattens out into a sandy bed towards Sandy Hook. Again the wild (but attractive) country means that no intermediate access (in case of problems) is available, so good repair kits should be carried. A good canoeing height is when the first race can be easily paddled without scraping, but high water would be dangerous.
