Description:
The Gloucester River commences in the Barrington Tops National Park and flows in an easterly direction to enter the Manning River downstream of Tiri. It is a narrow pretty river running through farm country, and is only canoeable after significant rainfall. The river can probably be paddled upstream of the section described, however as access is via fords crossing the river, when the water level is suitable, access is difficult. This section of the Gloucester River is narrow, with steep banks and lush vegetation which forms a canopy over the river. A remarkable feature is the number and size of Elkhorn in the trees. Platypus may be seen. good for novices with lots of grade 2 rapids and one grade 3.
