Description:
In this section the river is wide with a steady but slow current. The banks are high and steep but there are plenty of places to get off the water. As the river runs out of the red gum forests into the very hot and dry plains the only change from the monotony during this stage is as the river nears the Torrumbarry Weir. Here the greenery is a pleasant change from the dry harsh conditions in the area. Camping is good along the river and there is a caravan park at Torrumbarry Weir and others in the main towns. Between the weir and Barham you will have three days in the bush so check maps for vehicle tracks to the river for safety.
