This section, although it has almost no rapids as such and only a few easy gravel races, still provides a pleasant and interesting paddle. The river is characterised by narrow tree-shrouded sections through which the current runs with the fallen and hanging trees and logs often making manoeuvring tight and difficult. There are a number of blockages, often by huge trees totally across the river, requiring portages which are generally easily accomplished. Good campsites along the river are not frequent, the first is at Blue Gum Flat (approx. 7km along) but the best campsite is at Yadboro in the maintained campground. One of the attractions of this paddle is the atmosphere of wilderness and remoteness that the closed-in timber and scrub engender, while the view of Pigeon House Mountain from one of the pools is indeed memorable. The section is generally canoeable if the race under the Yadboro Bridge is able to be paddled without scraping. If the water becomes more than about 15cm higher than this however, the tree hazards could become dangerous. The following section down from Clyde Ridge Rd. Bridge down to Brooman, which has some good Grade 2 rapids and can be comfortably done within 4 -5hrs and has less of a shuttle to drive - only approx. 8km each way.
