Description:

Follow the eastern shore from Bungwahl to Violet Hill via Neronie Sands, Shelly Beach and Tickerabbit. (Review remote camping access points for details of facilities and special features.) The Myall Lakes National Parks encompasses the largest coastal lakes system in NSW. It protects a resource of significant ecological value. It is situated 300 kms north of Sydney between the Pacific Highway and the coast. It extends from the western shore of the lake with its mountainous watershed and eucalypt Melaleuca trees. The area contains a diverse range of habitats, including remnants of rainforests, flowering coastal heath, wetlands complete with waterlilies, and open woodland where koalas may be found. The waterway consists of three connected lakes which are from north to south, Myall Lake, Boolambayte Lake and The Broadwater. There is also the Myall River which flows from Bulahdelah to The Broadwater and then on to Tea Gardens. And don't miss Boolambayte Creek which flows into the lake of the same name. Be careful of wind as the lakes are a large expanse of open water. Please refer to the water grading system for warnings.
