Borang Lake
Jon Mortimer manages the Eurobodalla Kayakers website and email list. Eurobodalla Kayakers is not a club. It is simply a facility for sharing information about some kayaking activities in the district, for kayakers who want to know when and where other paddlers might be found on the water. Further information, including a calendar of paddles, is available on the website (access via the link below) or via the email eurobodallakayakers[at]gmail.com
Eurobodalla Kayakers
Take a map and a compass with you to avoid too much unplanned exploration. There is easy access off Trafalgar Road / Nelson Parade at Lavender Bay, just west of the boat ramp. Ample free parking is available alongside the shallow sandy edge. Toilets and waterside cafes nearby. This pleasant flatwater paddle takes you southwest across Tuross Lake and around the south side of Horse Island. After paddling under a small bridge turn left at the T junction to work your way around the southern tip of Cambanthin Island arriving at the Tuross River. Turn left at this T junction to paddle 300 metres up the Tuross River to the entrance to Borang lake on your left. Paddle across the Lake and return via the same route. The entrance to Borang Lake is shallow so this paddle is best undertaken on the high tide. Visit www.eurobodallakayakers.com to see when local paddlers will be on the water here. The Eurobodalla Kayaking and Canoeing Brochure provides a description of this and sixteen other paddles in this part of the world. It is available from visitor centres, or by calling 1800 802 528, or directly by clicking on the link.
