Description

The gravel bar across the Warragamba River where it joins the Nepean River is fairly flat and is covered in vegetation although it does get scoured out when Warragamba Dam spils. But it is also linked to an aluvial bank which has been deposited over the years when the two rivers join during major floods and deposit sand. This site was used by the Nepean 100 Miler Canoe Marathon in the 1960's 70's and 1980's as thee top check point. So there several small and large camp site in the trees along the Nepean river just downstream of the Warragamba Junction  These sites are not as accessable from the car park at the top of the hill as the upstream sites  but some people do swim across the river to use them. There are no facilitis at this camp site and you should carry your own water as i beleive the Warragamba STP occassionaly discharges untreated effluent.
