Access Point Description:

Rottnest Island sits approximately 20 kilometres off the coast of Perth/Fremantle.
Thompson Bay faces north east, so is generally good shelter from the SW sea breezes. The gently sloping, shallow beach is very friendly for landing and launching for all types of paddle craft.  Many amenities and the island town centre is just a short walk from here.
Just bear in mind when approaching the island that other private, commercial craft and ferry / tour operators are using these waters, so stay vigilant and give these craft plenty of room.
Paddlers should take note of Department of Transport (marine) Paddle Craft Safety Guidelines, before heading out on an off shore trip such as this.
