Mainly paddle open (canadian) canoes.
Great North road crosses the Blackwood river approximately half way between Sues Bridge and Warner Glen. From Sues road, just north of Sues bridge turn west onto Denny Road (gravel, 2WD acccess) until you reach the cross roads with Great North Road at 34° 4.344'S 115° 17.324'E. The intersection is the easy to and is quite large. There is a sign describing rules for firewood collection at the intersection. Turn left and travel down to a level crossing/floodway. This section is a little more difficult but most 2WD cars should be ok. Parking for 2-3 cars is available on the north side of the river, there is a drop toilet furtherup the hill. Parking for 1 car is available on the opposite side of the river. If travelling downstream put in on the north side (Denny road side). If travelling upstream it pays to walk a little upstream before putting in. Beware the culverts under the floodway- they are a risk to paddlers/swimmers. There is a water monitoring station at Hut Pool but because of floodway/culverts it is not very useful at low water levels. The river gauge further upstream at Darradup is a better indication of the general river level.
