Meadowbank Ferry Wharf gives great access to Homebush Bay if travelling from the north. There is free (no time limit) parking beside the beach so you can park with 5-6m of the water. Be careful of the loose rocks below the water line at mid to high tide, though the water is generally clear and they are easy to spot.
This section of the river can be very busy with commercial and leisure craft and early morning there are a lot of rowers with their support boats. Extreme care is needed when crossing the river here as the bridge pylons can hide paddle craft and other boats from each other. The bridge pylons though also offer good safe points which can be used to ‘hop’ across the river.
Meadowbank is a good launch point for exploring the various wrecks in Homebush Bay.
