This is a great section for less experienced paddlers who are comfortable on moving water.   The river is narrow in places and has lots of easy grade 2 rapids together with some long flat sections.   There is access to the river via a 4 wheel drive track on river right approximately 2.8 kilometres from the start.   Otherwise the river is well away from roads until you each Bruntons Bridge.   The portage is long in comparison to the river length.
