The Canoeing Guide to NSW Rivers
An easy half-day trip, suitable for novices is possible from River Island Nature Retreat to Goodmans Ford, provided permission is obtained at River Island to leave cars there, for which a fee is charged. Access to River Island is gained by turning off the Goodmans Ford road on the left near the top of the hill 8km before the bridge. This road may be slippery after rain. The river in this section consists of pools and races, although there is one rapid of note (grade 2+) 2km from the finish.
There is camping with bush toilets at goodmans ford or you can turn this trip into an overnight paddle and camp in the National Park on Hose Flat / Bowans Hill on river left between Toms Island and goodmans Ford
When looking at the river levles you need to remember that the Wingecarribbe river meets the Wollondilly rive rjust upstreaama of the start of this trip so you need to consider the flows comming down both rivers.
